Hapa Cupcakes started in 2011 by two childhood best friends. Hanayo's love for baking mixed with Akemi's entrepreneurial spirit led to the creation of Hapa Cupcakes. "Hapa" by definition of urban dictionary means "of mixed racial heritage with partial roots in Asia." Growing up in a bi-racial family, they learned to embrace two completely different cultures allowing them to see the beauty in uniqueness and diversity.
